いま宿が案内しているのは、観光地ではなく、彼の遊び場です。
Appi Kogen is where the owner was born and raised.
What this inn shows you is not a resort brochure — it is his childhood playground.
今は、小さい頃の遊び場を、県内はもとより、全国・全世界からいらっしゃる方々へ紹介して、楽しんでもらって生きています。 Now I make my living showing that playground — to people from this prefecture, from all of Japan, from all over the world — and watching them enjoy it.
母屋。天井の高い、まあるいレストラン。薪のはぜる暖炉のラウンジ。光の差し込む貸切の内湯。宿のすべての「集まる」機能が、この館にあります。全室バス・トイレ付、床暖房。窓は、春夏秋冬が見えるように付けられています。 The mother house. A round, high-ceilinged restaurant; a lounge with a wood fire and a pair of rocking chairs; the private indoor bath. Everything communal happens here. Every room has its own bath, toilet and underfloor heating — and a window, because the owner wanted all four seasons visible from every bed.
和風建築。畳のある、趣の館です。客室は7部屋、全室にバス・トイレ・液晶テレビ・エアコン・冷蔵庫がついています。和室7.5畳、和洋室、6べっどRoom — 大人数でも、畳の上でひとつになれる部屋があります。 Japanese timber construction. Seven rooms, each with its own bath and toilet. A 7.5-mat tatami room; a connecting Japanese-and-Western room; a six-bed room. If your group is large, there is a floor here where everyone still sleeps in one place.
シアトルのカーペンターが建てた、色の館。全6室、それぞれに色の名前がついています — Blue, Orange, Brown, Green, Rose, Sakura。すべて角部屋で、全室キッチン・カウンター＆チェア付き。自炊も、持ち込みも、自由自在です。 Built by a carpenter from Seattle. Six rooms, each named for its colour — Blue, Orange, Brown, Green, Rose, Sakura. Every one is a corner room, and every one has a kitchen, a counter and chairs. Cook for yourself, or bring in whatever you like.
和み館・新し館は、本館から徒歩2〜3分。お食事の時間には送迎いたしますので、雪の日もご心配なく。朝も夕も、食卓は本館の「まあるいレストラン」にご用意します。 Nagomi-kan and Atarashi-kan stand a 2–3 minute walk from the main house. At mealtimes we drive you across, so the snow is never a problem. Breakfast and dinner are both served in the round restaurant of the main house.
きれいな空気の基、光の差し込む内湯を、気兼ねなく貸切で。広い脱衣室と、広い洗い場。一枚鏡に映しだされたあなた自身を、あなた自身で見つめてみてください。チェックインの際に、お好きな時間をお取りします。 A bright indoor bath with a window, booked to one party at a time. A wide changing room, a wide washing floor, and a single long mirror. Choose your hour when you check in — nobody else will be in there.
壁はヒノキの板張り。ボタンをひとつ押すとマイクロの微泡が湯を乳白色に変え、もうひとつ押すと、湯が七色に光りだします — 「レインボー風呂」。こちらも完全貸切、50分枠です。 Hinoki-panelled walls. Press one button and micro-bubbles turn the water milk-white; press the other and it lights up in seven colours — the Rainbow Bath. Also private, also a 50-minute slot.

米は、オーナーが種まきから手創りします。夕食は 18:30〜、朝食は 07:00〜09:00。天井の高い、まあるいレストランで。10名様以上のときは、朝食はヴュッフェになります。 The rice is grown by the owner himself, from the sowing. Dinner from 18:30, breakfast 07:00–09:00, in the round restaurant with its high ceiling. For parties of ten or more, breakfast is served as a buffet.
